I just got back from a vacation to Chicagoland and it was fantastic and restorative. The main point of my trip was to reconnect with my most excellent 20-year-friend Buzzmo via lots of gaming and dining. It was Chicago Game Day at Games Plus in Mt. Prospect (outstanding!) and we also went to a taping of NPR’s “Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me” which experience I highly recommend!

Though I dislike basketball quite a bit, and did not attend the University of Wyoming, I am traveling this week to Las Vegas to attend the Mountain West College Basketball Tournament to cheer on the Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls. My whole family is gathering there. I’m hoping to find some other fun things to do in between games. I’m told there are art galleries, plus I look forward to going on an extensive “mock and gawk” walk with my mother on the Strip and see the Fake Pirate Ship and the Fake Pyramid and the Fake Medieval Castle and the Fake New York City and all the other exceeding ersatzery. Umberto “Travels in Hyperreality” Eco will be in my thoughts…
